The first meeting of the Charleston Estate Planning Council will be Thursday, October 20, at Edgewood Country Club. There will be a reception, beginning at 5:30, with dinner served at 6:15. The speaker will be Jennifer Scraggs, Putnam County Attorney and Fiduciary Supervisor. She will discuss issues in estate administration.
The October 20th meeting will constitute the Annual Meeting of the Council per the By-Laws. A Nominating Committee has been appointed and John Allevato has been nominated to fill the current attorney vacancy in the Executive Committee. John is a member of Spilman Thomas & Battle PLLC and has been an active member of the council for many years. Note that any five members of the Council, by written notice filed with me at least five (5) days prior to the October 20th meeting may nominate additional candidates to fill this vacancy in the Executive Committee.
Reservations may be made by responding to this email. Reservations must be received by noon, October 18.

Members may invite a guest (an individual who has not previously been a member of the CEPC) to attend the first meeting. The fee for a guest at this meeting will be $20, which is half the usual cost.
Please include the name of any guests with your reservations.
If you have not paid your membership for 2011-2012, an application for renewal or for new members is attached. The fee for renewing members is $125 and for new members $140, which includes your name badge.
Dues must be received by 10/03 to be included in The Charleston Gazette during National Estate Planning Awareness week and Wills week.
If there are any dues or new application fees submitted prior to September 16th, that were forwarded back “return to sender” this “glitch” has been corrected and you can resubmit your payment to the P.O. Box 326 as specified. I apologize for any inconvenience.
